They are seeds now, they are hopes for tomorrow.

     The youngsters of immigration meet the Scottish youngsters  in Istanbul with the "New Beginings New Opportunities" project.

     Children of poor and deprived families who have immigrated to the metropolitan from their villages are happy to get the opportunity with New Beginnings New Opportunities project.

     Aims of the project, which is made by Basak Culture and Art Foundation from Istanbul and Grey Lodge Settlement from Scotland, includes being open to different cultures and abolishing the prejudices by gathering youngsters from different cultures.

     Our youngsters who have immigrated to Istanbul with their families, who are trying to live their own culture in metropolitan life, hosted their Scottish friends in Istanbul who have other problems such as family issues in their lives. 10 people coming from Grey Lodge settlement and 10 people from Basak Culture and Art Foundation have spent 10 days in Istanbul and got to know each other.

     In the content of this program there were not only arranging trips to see the historical and cultural places of Istanbul but also creating an environment of inter-cultural learning by having some artistic activities. The youngsters, who said that their major problem is the inequality between them and their peers, are really happy to have such a chance.

     The project which is realized on behalf of Baþak Culture and Art Foundation is supported by Turkish and Scottish National Agencies within Action 1.1 Youth Exchange Programs.
